Nostalgia 2014

The Alumni Committee, IIM Kozhikode celebrated the annual alumni reunion event NOSTALGIA’14, on the 25th and the 26th of January 2014. Every year alumni from various parts of the country and the world come together on two days to cherish their time in the institute. This year, the event witnessed more than 100 participants across the world. Situated in a serene campus, IIM Kozhikode gave the alumni a wonderful time to unite and rejoice. Some of the alumni came with their family, to meet their friends and relive the two years of their college life.

The event kicked off with invocation and a formal inauguration by the Director of IIMK. A general body meeting of the alumni with the Alumni Committee Chairperson, the Director, Dean and the faculty was held. The dignitaries addressed the gathering and encouraged discussion. The alumni were informed about the current happenings and the future plans of the institute. Their suggestions were also taken, to shape the institute in the path of continuous success. After high tea, there were music performances from the current batches. The alumni then enjoyed a campus tour with their friends. Also, the sixth batch that graduated from IIMK celebrated their tenth anniversary by cutting cake. The day ended with a grand home-coming dinner where the alumni relished with their old friends, family and faculty. A ghazal performance was arranged to suit the mood of the night.

On the second day, there was an informal interaction by the alumni with the current students. The discussion involved informal career counseling and inputs from the industry. The alumni guided the students on how to approach their career and life during and after MBA. They shared anecdotes and informed the students about the various career choices that are available to them in the industry. True to IIMK’s bonding with nature, the day ended with tree plantation ceremony, ‘Plant hope, Plant a life’, with the alumni planting samplings in the institute as a remembrance of their days here.83

 

Overall, the two-days were truly a family reunion, giving a chance for the alumni to fondly reminisce their student life at campus.

 

NOSTALGIA 2013- the annual Alumni Meet of IIMK

The annual alumni meet, Nostalgia – an evocative event that marks homecoming, celebration and unparalleled joy of communion with the Alma Mater was organized at the ‘IIM Kozhikode campus on 26th and 27th January 2013. The two day program was inaugurated by Prof. Debasish Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode.

NOSTALGIA 2013- the annual Alumni Meet of IIMK Faculty members of IIM Kozhikode addressed the gathering by expressing their hope that our alumni would bring bigger laurels to the institute. Prof. Debasish Chatterjee enlightened the audience with his words and emphasized on role of a teacher in a student’s life. He then presented a token of memento to all alumni. Prof Rashakrishna Pillai, the PGP chair and the other senior professors also shared their experiences and asked the students to think big in current scenario and not have a laid back approach by waiting for incremental change. Mr. Suraj Prasad, alumnus of the PGP 05 batch addressed the gathering after launching his book. Prof. Joshy Joseph – Chairperson (Alumni Activities) advocated a vote of thanks towards the alumni gathered at the occasion.

The formal programs were followed by the first-time ever ‘Batch wars’, a series of fun events and surprise quizzes for the alumni.

On Sunday, 27th of January, the alumni took up the mantle of being mentors to the students and help them choose elective courses and decide their specializations. The Career Counseling Session was highly appreciated by the students as they got first-hand information about the current industry expectations and tips on how to position themselves better for the placements and a fruitful career ahead.

Nostalgia 2012 – Reliving the glory days

The annual alumni meet, Nostalgia – an evocative event that marks homecoming, celebration and unparalleled joy of communion with the Alma Mater was organized at the ‘Kampus from 14th to 15th January 2012. The two day program was inaugurated by Prof. K Unnikrishnan Nair.

Nostalgia marked a new beginning of 10th year Reunion from this year held for alumni of PGP 04, Batch of 2002. Alumni holding positions of repute in multinational companies and entrepreneurial ventures visited back the Kampus after ten years of their passing out.

The esteemed faculty addressed the gathering by expressing their hope that our alumni would bring bigger laurels to the institute and by actively participating in building up ‘brand IIMK’. Prof. K Unnikrishnan Nair enlightened the audience with his words and emphasized on role of a teacher in a student’s life. He then presented a token of memento to all alumni. Prof K.K.Ladha also shared his experiences and asked the students to think big in current scenario and not have a laid back approach by waiting for incremental change. He urged the audience to interact and discuss the various issues in context and learn from the practical know – how gained by alums. The audience was addressed by Mr. Mridul Muralidharan, Member of Executive Committee of IIMK Alumni Association, and by PGP04 alums.

The floor was then thrown open for the Open House which saw a number of issues being raised and discussed by the Alumni with the faculty and representatives of all student committees. Some of the important points discussed at the Open House were the need to incorporate an alumnus ID card, Distinguished Alumni Award, opening up of USA Chapter of IIMK Alumni Association. Post this fruitful discussion IIM K Alumni video was also screened which was praised by one and all present at Nostalgia 2012.

Prof. Joshy Joseph – Chairperson (Alumni Activities) advocated a vote of thanks towards the alumni gathered at the occasion and advised the student committee members to take up the suggestions made by alumni on a serious note and implement them for IIM K to scale new and greater heights.

In the evening, the alumni and the faculty attended a lavish ‘networking’ cum corporate dinner. The post-dinner Kampus Party, an annual tradition and one of the highlights of Nostalgia every year saw a huge turnout of the current batch and the alumni. The floor was set ablaze as the alumni and the students bid to outdo each other in dancing and enjoying themselves.

On Sunday, 15th of January, the alumni took up the mantle of being mentors to the students and help them choose elective courses and decide their specializations. The Career Workshop was highly appreciated by the students as they got first-hand information about the current industry expectations and tips on how to position themselves better for the placements and a fruitful career ahead.

All in all, Nostalgia 2012 was a grand success and ended with a growing stronger bond between alumni and the institution.
