Aarogya 2011 was a novel initiative taken by the Social Service Group (SSG) at IIM Kozhikode in order to facilitate the improvement of health awareness on campus. Students and staff were given the opportunity to undergo blood and eye testing so as to detect common ailments. The SSG operated in a partnership with Vasan Eye care and the Aswini diagnostics centre. The camp was conducted on the 1st of October and served over 200 people including supporting staff who were tested for free. Tests conducted ranged from relatively routine tests such as blood pressure and blood sugar to more complex tests such as renal function and liver function.
As a follow on to the success of Aarogya, SSG also organised a blood donation camp on the 22nd of October in conjunction with the Calicut Medical College. The camp was organised on a pilot basis in order to gauge the enthusiasm of the batch. Given the encouraging response, another camp is planned on a larger scale shortly.
